Description

Under the general
direction of the Director of Water and Wastewater, incumbent performs
administrative, managerial and supervisory responsibilities in assuring
efficient services of City of Gallup Water and Wastewater
divisions.  Incumbent is responsible for the overall operation
and maintenance of a Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Plant
Laboratory and the Collections Systems. Ensures compliance with all State and
Federal regulations, standards and operating criteria. Directs, manages,
supervises and coordinates the activities and operations of the water
production, wastewater treatment, water distribution, reclaimed water
distribution or wastewater collection division within the Water
Department.  Provides highly responsible and complex administrative
support to the Director of Water – Wastewater.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent, (GED)
  • Valid driver’s license, must meet insurability
    requirements
  • Two (2) years college or technical training in biology,
    mathematics, chemistry, water & wastewater treatment or other related
    field plus five (5) years of directly related experience and Water and
    Wastewater Operation IV Certification -OR-
  •  Five (5) years direct experience, of which three
    (3) years would have been in a progressive supervisory position in a work
    related to the operation, maintenance and repair of municipal drinking
    water and wastewater treatment systems, with progressive certification as
    a Water Operator IV and Wastewater Operator III, with ability to obtain
    Wastewater Operator IV within one year, or equivalent thereof, as
    recognized through State of New Mexico reciprocity

 PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Environmental Engineering
