THE POSITION

H2O is looking for a full-time Level 2 or 3 Water Treatment Plant Operator for the Dulce, NM area. The candidate will be under the supervision of the Water Treatment Plant Supervisor. This is a safety sensitive and performance-oriented position involving all phases of a drinking water treatment system. Work includes a range of tasks as they relate to the maintenance and operation of a drinking water treatment system and other assigned duties related to water treatment.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

S  Ensure safe, compliant, and consistent operation of all water treatment plants ;

S  Operation and maintenance of the treatment plants and pumping stations according to standards;

S  Creation and initiation of work orders for operational servicing and repairs;

S  Preparation and delivery of activity and work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance;

S  Conducts routine testing of wastewater and water as directed, records test results and maintains the plant log book with accurate and timely entries of activities

S  Maintains the facility treatment units to include clarifiers, sampling equipment, and pumps.  Identify and report the need for repairs to treatment plant equipment such as pumps, valves, motors, blowers, and chemical feed equipment

S  Monitors all charts, gauges and other operating equipment and maintains calibration of plant instrumentation and on-line analyzers according to the frequency specified by permitting agencies and/or the manufacturer

S  Calculates chemical feed rates, calibrates chemical equipment and adjusts chemical feed rates as indicated by lab tests or by direction of the Plant Manager to comply with effluent quality requirements as established for the plant.

S  Communicate with the operators, client and management on issues that may potentially affect the treatment process, compliance or public health ;

S  Support water and wastewater treatment projects. Support with the development of project plans, SOP’s, justify and execute project requests.

S  Support and maintain positive operator and customer relationships and communication;

S  On-call availability within a 30-minute response time and rotational weekend duty is required for this position;

S  Other duties as assigned. 

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES DESIRED

S  High school diploma or equivalent.

S  New Mexico Water Supply Level 2 certification is required but Level 3 certification is preferred.

S  Experience operating and maintaining water treatment plants and related equipment is a plus;

S  Valid New Mexico Class D Driver’s License;

S  Good computer skills is a plus ;

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

S  Walking & Standing: 4-8 hr/day;

S  Bending & Reaching: 4-8 hr/day;

S  Pushing & pulling: 4-8 hr/day;

S  Physical Effort: does not lift weights more than 100 lbs;

S  Environmental Stress: busy atmosphere, working inside and outside.

S  Candidate will need to have a reliable vehicle to travel from their homes to the project.
