The Grand Canyon National Park Facility Maintenance and Engineering Division has announced opening for five Utility System Repairer-Operators. In this position for the National Park Service, you will manage the continuous operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of water and wastewater utility systems for Grand Canyon National Park.

Description:

Located in the Facility Management Division, Utility Section. The Utility Section is comprised of multiple facilities which are located at the South Rim, Desert View, North Rim, Roaring Springs, Phantom Ranch, and Indian Gardens developed areas of the Park, and at other small, developed and undeveloped areas within the Park boundaries. You may be asked to preform work tours or assist with repairs on the North Rim or within the Inner Canyon. Travel typically does not exceed 10% of time

·         Operates and maintains potable and reclaim water treatment and equipment including microfiltration equipment, pumps, valves, meters, monitors and chemical feed equipment

·         Operates and maintains wastewater treatment and collections systems such as: sanitary sewage lift stations, facultative lagoons, activated sludge wastewater treatment plants, aeration equipment, valves, meters, monitors and transfer pumps.

·         Troubleshoots and repairs pumps, valves, meters, monitors and chemical feed equipment

·         Practices safe work techniques, uses personal protective equipment as needed and practice good housekeeping so as to contribute to a safe working environment.
