General Manager
PRIMARY JOB
DESCRIPTION:
Supervise and lead the operations, maintenance, and
long-term development of the Association’s water and wastewater systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Duties
may involve lifting and carrying heavy (50 -100 pounds or more) objects.
2. Previous
experience in water/wastewater treatment.
3. Deal
effectively with public and customer service.
4. Stand
By/On Call requires responding to emergencies including nights, weekends and
holidays to restore interrupted water services.
5. Working
knowledge of hand tools.
6. Ability
to operate heavy machinery and pull a trailer.
7. Experience in maintenance of mechanical equipment.
8.
Knowledge of water
meter repair techniques and procedures
9.
General knowledge of
streets and locations in the Otis district.
10. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, procedures
and guidelines.
11. Knowledge of DFA, NM Rural Water, NMW&WWA, NMED and
USDA for compliance requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High
school diploma or equivalency degree.
2. Valid
Drivers License
3. Clean
Driving Record
4. Must
successfully pass a drug screen.
5. New
Mexico Water Operator II Level Certification or Above or equal to 10 years’
experience of water system.
6. Good
knowledge of business English spelling and grammar.
7. Excellent customer services skills.
8. Friendly,
cross functional engagement, and team- oriented mindset.
9. Flexibility
to undertake a variety of assignments.
10. Ability to
organize time efficiently among a variety of duties.
11. Ability to use basic computer software.
DUTIES:
- Monitor control
flow and pressure of water to customers. - Monitors
gauges, meters and control panels. - Repair
leaks including main water lines as well as service lines. - Reads
meters of all residential/commercial water system customers on a regularly
scheduled basis to determine the amount of water use. - Perform
disconnects for non-payment. - Perform
meter installation. - Maintain
and record meter and gauge readings. - Operate
backhoe, trenchers, generators, pumps, and other extraction tools. - Performs
routine maintenance functions and custodial duties.
10. Preventive
maintenance of pumps, pump stations, other mechanical and electrical systems
and equipment as recommended by manufacturer
- Conduct frequent system and security inspections
with preventive and routine maintenance on facilities and equipment. - Conduct routine
inspections of wells or surface water sources and watersheds to identify
potential sources of contamination. - Monitor chemical feed and
other system components and monitor effectiveness of treatment. - Provide input for planning
and preparing equipment replacement in written form - Record water levels,
sounding, and usage of all wells bi-monthly (For state submission in
written form) - Maintenance
of spare parts inventories, or complete contact information for spare
parts suppliers - Replaces non-working/malfunctioning water meters
and associated valves/meter boxes in the field to ensure accurate
determination of customer usage and facilitate meter repair and
maintenance - Answers
customer inquiries/complaints regarding water usage and general water
system operations.
