Regulatory and Operational Duties

 

 

 

 

 

Perform operation and maintenance
tasks throughout all Village of Cuba facilities. Incumbents of this position
focus on the advanced water and wastewater treatment operations. Certified
Operator will perform repetitive duties and other job assignments required for
regulatory compliance and operational efficiency. Possess a valid NM Driver’s
License. Applicant shall pass a background check, drug and alcohol screening
prior to employment.

 

 

Operates all Village of Cuba
facilities, including raw and finished water pumping conveyance systems;
chemical fee systems, pre-treatment, advanced treatment process and residual
process facilities. Salary is based on Certification Level. Open until filled.

 

 

Controls and Monitors process
operations by means of the Supervisory Control and data Acquisition (SCADA)
system and/or control panels and meters; record readings, assist in periodic
facility security and safety inspections; and other PPE requirements.

 

 

Starts, stops and adjust equipment to
control processes and adjust flows; performs process testing, interpret
equipment readings, laboratory data, report findings and access recommendation.

 

 

Collects samples; performs laboratory
tests and records results using approved laboratory methods; assists in
complying with federal and state drinking water regulations. Transports and
delivers all samples to Laboratories.

 

 

Performs and documents minor
preventive maintenance work orders on plant equipment and buildings; exercises
and lubricates equipment; reports all maintenance recommendations to immediate
supervisor. Assist in maintenance of rebuilding pumps, motors and other plant
equipment, as necessary. Read water meters, repair inoperable water meters to
maximize revenues. Repair Water Leaks & Operate Heavy Equipment.

 

 

Tests and adjusts process equipment
to optimize performance to comply with regulatory requirements.

 

 

Performs housekeeping duties on
facility work areas; process basins, pump stations, grounds equipment, etc.

 

 

Certified Systems Operator assists in
the preparation and revision of standard operating safety regulatory compliance
procedures and must attend all monthly Safety Meetings.

 

 

Must work with department workers
and/or collaborate with other staff on assignments necessary to achieve the
goals and objectives of the Village of Cuba organization. CSO reports directly to
immediate Supervisor on a daily basis.

 

 

CSO is classified as a salary
employee, must be available 24/7/365, reports to all emergencies. CSO is required
to live within the Municipal Boundaries of the Village of Cuba.

 

 

Knowledge of U.S.E.P.A and NMED monthly
monitoring reports; basic math, water testing procedures, water treatment
methods and quality regulations; Require basic skills in recordkeeping, oral
and written communication, problem solving, decision- making, developing and
maintaining business relationships. Must be able to read, comprehend and
interpret technical information; keep accurate record; organize time and work
to efficiently and effectively accomplish goals; to learn occupational hazards;
operate powered and manual equipment, machinery and tools used in water and
wastewater plant operations.

 

 

Work is performed inside and outside,
sometimes in inclement weather, confined spaces, es exposure to loud noises,
chemicals (including chlorine), toxic gases and fumes, germs, bacteria, and
allergens. Oversees all Public Works operations; but not limited to; Streets
and Maintenance with staff on assignments; fire hydrant operations, maintenance
and quarterly inspections.

 

 

Employer Insurance Coverage Benefits
Contributions is 80%, Employee Insurance Coverage Contributions is 20%. P.E.R.A
Plan 2 Benefits: Employer @ 9.55% & Employee @ 10.65% Contributions for a
25 year Retirement Plan.

 

 

CSO must be able to travel to retain
certified operator training credits on a yearly basis.
