Salary: $22.95 /hr on W2 without benefits. (The pay is negotiable for those who possess a New
Mexico Level II Water or Wastewater Certification)
This position is with one of our clients, Jacobs Engineering, which manages the operation and
maintenance of a wastewater facility in Farmington, NM 87401. People who are willing to kick off
their careers in the wastewater industry are welcome to apply.
If selected, the client offers training for the initial three months; during these initial months, you
would be on a contractual role; however, once the initial training is completed, you will be
converted to a full-time employee with the end client.

Qualifications:
MECHANIC IN TRAINING - WATER/WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License
• Must have a New Mexico Level II Water or Waste Water Certification
• 12 months of experience with a State-approved level 1 Water or Waste Water certification
• This will be a union position upon conversion
• Basic familiarity of the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations;
operating principles of valves, pumps, and motors; principles and methods of bacteriological and
chemical sewage analyses; effects and problems of industrial waste in water/wastewater treatment
processes; safe work practices
• Knowledge of computer software including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook,
data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems
Responsibilities:
Read and record information in Maintenance Connection. Work orders, and mechanical
information sheets
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles (i.e., fluid levels, belts, tires)
Perform routine onsite pump station inspections
Test auxiliary equipment (i.e., alarms, HVAC, pumps, engines, generators)
Lubricate equipment and replace filters
Assists in keeping maintenance records
Communicates effectively at all levels regarding recommended maintenance and repair procedures
Follows written and oral instructions
Understands and carries out oral and written directions
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
Daily and punctual attendance in the office and/or job site or off-site locations is required
This position required to be available on an on-call basis for emergencies
Travel between work locations is required.
Performs other related duties as assigned
