General Guidelines

The New Mexico Rural Water Association's Annual Conference is the premier training forum for water and wastewater industry operators, managers, and decision makers throughout the State. NMRWA invites professional presentations on all suitable topics related to the industry. The Conference Committee will contact selected applicants with an invitation to present. Presenters will then be required to send NMRWA their full presentation abstract, biography, and presentation needs. Class descriptions, biographies, and presenter contact information will be printed in the Conference Program. Presenters receive a free Conference registration for all classes and the Exhibit Hall, plus a free ticket to all meal events.

Eligible classes will be assigned New Mexico Operator Certification Credits. Classes are scheduled in 90 or 120 minute blocks. NMRWA reserves the right to accept or reject any proposed class or instructor.

Class Title

The title for your presentation should be a concise, straightforward explanation of the primary content of your class. Avoid long or complex titles.

Class Description

The class description will be printed in the Conference program and should give attendees an overview of the major topics of your class. Descriptions should be between 75 - 100 words. Longer descriptions may be submitted, but may be edited due to space constraints. Electronic submissions are highly preferred, please use the form above to submit your class description.

Handouts / Materials

If you choose to provide paper handouts, you should plan to make 35 - 50 copies. Conference attendees are free to select the classes they wish, so classes may have more or less people in attendance. NMRWA will make electronic presentations and handouts available after the Conference on this website. Please ensure that we have electronic copies of your presentation and handouts.

Class Procedure

Instructors should be prepared to begin their class on time and fill the entire time block allotted. Questions from attendees are encouraged, and typically use 15 minutes or more. Your classroom will be set up according to the audiovisual requirements indicated on the Instructor Information Form. All classrooms have a projection screen and a wired, clip-on microphone. You may elect not to use the microphone, but unless you have a very strong speaking voice Conference participants will prefer that you use the sound system.

Your presentation will be introduced by a Conference moderator, who will identify themselves to you before your class begins. This person will also manage a class sign-in sheet and handouts. If you have any needs or concerns, your moderator will help. If your class has certification credits, the moderator will stamp attendance cards just before the end of the class. Please remind participants to fill out evaluation forms. Any questions regarding certification credits should be referred to the moderator.
